A Live Scan only takes a few minutes.

What should I bring?

You must bring a valid picture I.D. You must also bring your Live Scan Request Form. This is the form that the requesting agency gave you or was included with your application for employment, certification or licensing. Some are preprinted with your information on it and some are standard forms that you fill in.

Who receives the results of your Live Scan background check?

The requesting agency receives the results directly from the Department of Justice. The requesting agency is whoever is requiring you to obtain the Live Scan. For example, a potential employer, licensing department or certification issuer.

How long will it take for the results to get to the requesting agency?

Your Live Scan is transmitted electronically within 24 hours to the Department of Justice. After the criminal background check is complete, the results are then sent to the requesting agency. The whole process can take only a couple of days and usually will not take longer than two weeks.
